Fran's Chocolates Ltd., based in Seattle, Washington, has pulled a product from the market because it contained an undeclared allergen, prompting health authorities to issue a warning to consumers

The company began withdrawing 112 units of the "Franz Pure Bar Almond Milk Chocolate" product, after it was proven that it contained hazelnuts without them being mentioned in the list of ingredients.

the recall notice that people with a hazelnut allergy or severe allergy may experience serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.

The recall includes a 46% almond milk chocolate product from Madagascar, a vegan product sold in 1.1 ounce packages.

The recall decision came after a supplier informed the company that an ingredient in almond milk chocolate showed positive results for traces of hazelnuts, as it was manufactured on the same equipment used to process other products that may contain this allergenic substance.

The chocolate bars were sold in four Fran's Chocolates stores in Seattle, and were also available through the company's website across the United States from October 9 to December 14, 2025.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has received a report of one allergic reaction related to the product, with no serious injuries or deaths reported so far.

The company urged consumers who purchased the product to contact them, while the US Food and Drug Administration urged them not to consume the chocolate and to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Nuts, including hazelnuts, are among the most common allergens, and allergy symptoms can range from skin rash and itching to severe anaphylactic shock that may lead to throat swelling, vomiting, dizziness, and difficulty breathing.
