Gibran at the disaster post: logistics, infrastructure repairs accelerated
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka emphasized that the distribution of logistical aid and repairs to basic infrastructure, including bridges, would be accelerated, as he conveyed this while inspecting refugee posts in Agam Regency, West Sumatra, on Thursday.

As part of his working visit to review locations affected by flash floods and landslides in Sumatra, Gibran began his visit by listening to the complaints of victims at one of the posts set up by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) in Agam Regency, West Sumatra, on Thursday.

"The distribution of logistics and aid will continue to be expedited by land, air, and sea. Improvements to communication access, health centers, schools, bridges, and roads will also be expedited to ensure the flow of logistical aid and fuel can resume smoothly," Gibran said.

During a dialogue and sitting with residents, Gibran stated that he had noted all input and complaints regarding disaster management and would immediately report them to President Prabowo Subianto.

Gibran conveyed the President's directive that disaster management be prioritized for vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, toddlers, pregnant women, and children.

The Vice President advised the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the local government, and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to pay attention to the refugee camps and ensure adequate food and clean water sanitation.

"I'm asking regional heads, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the Indonesian National Police (Polri), to please pay attention to the safety of the people in these evacuation centers, including their tents, three meals a day, and clean water. I'm also asking for special attention for the elderly, children, pregnant women, children, and toddlers. Please prioritize these," Gibran said.

Gibran also conveyed to the victims that he would continue to monitor the current conditions on the ground until post-disaster recovery.

From West Sumatra, the Vice President then flew to South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra. The trip then continued to Aceh Singkil Regency, Aceh.

"Today we're visiting three provinces, the goal being to accelerate recovery. So, ladies and gentlemen, you're not alone, residents of Sumatra. We're not alone. We'll continue to work in the field," said Gibran.
