Injuries reported in Israeli shelling in northern Gaza; UN calls for an end to violations.

Medical sources reported that a number of wounded people were transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital in western Gaza City, following Israeli artillery shelling that targeted the outskirts of Beit Lahia town in the northern Gaza Strip.

In this context, displaced people north of Khan Younis city in the southern Gaza Strip tried to overcome the gas and fuel crisis by digging in a garbage dump to collect plastic and use it as an alternative fuel.

In parallel, several areas east of Gaza City, including the Al-Tuffah and Al-Shuja’iyya neighborhoods, as well as areas east of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, and the vicinity of areas where the Israeli occupation army is still stationed east of Khan Yunis and Rafah in the south, witnessed air raids and heavy gunfire from Israeli vehicles and aircraft, without additional details being available about the nature of the targets.

For his part, Thamin Al-Khitan, spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, called for pressure to be exerted on Israel to end its attacks on the Gaza Strip.

In an interview with Anadolu Agency, Al-Khitan stressed the need to respect ceasefire agreements in Gaza, Lebanon and all other areas, and the need for all parties to the conflict to respect international human rights law and international humanitarian law.

Violations and crimes

Al-Khitan said: “For example, since the ceasefire in Gaza, the killing of Palestinians has unfortunately continued. We have witnessed the killing of Palestinians in Israeli operations, especially along the so-called Yellow Line.”

He stressed the need for all countries to strive to put an end to violations and crimes under international law in Gaza, calling on everyone with influence to use it to pressure the Israeli government to end the war in Gaza and implement the decisions of the International Court of Justice to end the illegal Israeli presence in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The Israeli occupation army still controls the southern and eastern strips, in addition to large parts of the northern Gaza Strip, including more than 50 percent of the Strip's area.

This comes as part of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement signed between Hamas and Israel, mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, and sponsored by the United States, which came into effect on October 10th.

With American support, the occupation army has been waging a war of extermination in Gaza since October 8, 2023, leaving more than 70,000 martyrs and more than 171,000 wounded Palestinians, most of them children and women.

Israel violates the agreement daily, resulting in the death and injury of hundreds of Palestinians. It also prevents the entry of sufficient food and medicine into Gaza, where some 2.4 million people live in catastrophic and inhumane conditions.
