The Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics (a government agency) said in a statement that 69,300 residents left Israel during 2025, compared to only 19,000 returning, resulting in a net negative migration of 50,300 people by the end of the year.
The statement indicated that the population of Israel is approximately 10.1 million people, of whom 76.3% (7.7 million) are Jews, 21.1% (2.1 million) are Arabs, and 2.6% (260,000) are foreigners.
He added that the number of births during the year reached about 182,000, while about 50,000 deaths were recorded, which is about two thousand fewer deaths compared to 2024. Israeli media reports attributed the increased rate of emigration from the country to the continuation of the war and its economic, social and psychological repercussions.
In the same context, the “State of the State 2025” report issued by the Taub Center for Policy Research revealed an unprecedented decline in the population growth rate within Israel, as a result of continued negative migration and declining fertility rates, in a development that the report described as the first of its kind since the declaration of the establishment of the state in 1948.
The report indicated that Israel suffered a net loss of about 37,000 people for the second year in a row, with the rise of what it described as a "reverse migration" of former immigrants, along with the departure of increasing numbers of Israelis themselves, particularly from the educated youth category.
In another dimension of the crisis, the results of an opinion poll published by the Times of Israel website showed that 32% of Israelis would need specialized psychological support by the end of 2025, two years after the war.
The survey was conducted last November and included a representative sample of 1,100 people, aged between 20 and 75.
The results showed that the situation is more serious among members of the occupation army who served during the year, as 39% of them reported needing psychological support, while 26% expressed concern about depression, and 48% reported suffering from sleep disorders.
The data also showed rising smoking rates, with 30% of smokers saying they increased their consumption during the year, along with a 4% decrease in the number of births compared to 2024.
These indicators come in light of the war of extermination waged by Israel on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, which has resulted in more than 71,000 Palestinian martyrs and 171,000 wounded, most of them children and women, while the occupation army announced the suicide of 21 of its soldiers since the beginning of 2025.
Israel was established in 1948 on lands occupied by armed Zionist gangs who committed massacres and displaced hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. Tel Aviv then occupied the rest of the Palestinian territories and refuses to withdraw and allow the establishment of a Palestinian state.
