The trust placed in Kierana symbolizes the emergence of a new generation of Indonesian sports in Southeast Asia. The 17-year-old athlete excelled in her SEA Games debut, winning a silver medal in the short track speed skating mixed relay and a bronze medal in the 1500-meter individual event.
"The competition was fierce and the pressure was incredible. But the team's support gave me confidence and gave me the confidence to persevere," said Kierana.
Kierana will be followed by nine ice skating athletes, officials, the Headquarter (HQ) team, and the CdM team
The raising of the Indonesian flag at the main stadium of the SEA Games will mark the end of the 2025 Southeast Asian Games and a reflection of the struggles of Indonesian athletes throughout the championship.
"I feel very honored to be entrusted with carrying the Indonesian flag. I was nervous, but it was an experience I will never forget," said Kierana.
The athlete, who was born and raised in Canada, emphasized his commitment to representing Indonesia at the international level.
