Liliyana Natsir shares knowledge with the younger generation at the Badminton Clinic

Indonesian badminton legend Liliyana Natsir returned to the court to guide young players and badminton enthusiasts in the second Badminton Clinic session held in Jakarta last weekend.

The training program, initiated by PT Bank HSBC Indonesia, is being held to support the regeneration of Indonesian badminton athletes. Themed "Court of Dreams," the training is open to children and adults of all skill levels.

"Seeing young badminton players and fans push their limits is always a special moment. When someone enters the court with curiosity and confidence, that's where true growth occurs," said Liliyana in an official statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He added that an inclusive and supportive learning space is important to produce a new generation that is not only technically but also mentally strong.

"Hopefully today's experience will make them even more courageous in dreaming and keep moving," said Liliyana.

In addition to Liliyana, the clinic also features several former national players who are now actively coaching the younger generation. These include Debby Susanto (2016 All England champion), Tommy Sugiarto (2014 World Championships bronze medalist), Berry Angriawan (2018 Australian Open champion), and Poluakan Natali, 2005 Asian Championships bronze medalist.

Participants are divided into several classes based on their ability level. For the intermediate category, for both children and adults, the material covered stroke consistency, serve variations, footwork, and recovery after attacking.

The advanced class for children focuses on perfecting techniques such as smashes, drives, netting tricks, and game strategies.

HSBC Indonesia President Director Stuart Rogers said the initiative was driven by a desire to create an empowering space through sports.

"Supporting young talent isn't just about sports, but also about creating an environment where every talent can thrive," he said.

This clinic program was first held on September 28th, featuring Greysia Polii as the main mentor. The series of activities targeted young clients and participants from Special Olympics Indonesia.
