The Ministry of Youth and Sports, along with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, are collaborating to manage and utilize sports assets, starting with 20 stadiums spread across various regions.
"This synergy is important for us because sports facilities built by the central and regional governments still pose a budget burden (for maintenance), especially for local governments," Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir told the media in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The Minister of Youth and Sports made this statement after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian and the Minister of SMEs Maman Abdurrahman regarding the management and utilization of central and regional sports facilities and infrastructure.
The memorandum of understanding serves as an important foundation for the management of sports assets in the region to be carried out in commercial cooperation with the professional business world.
The management of sports assets will begin at 20 stadiums that have been inaugurated, namely Bumi Sriwijaya Stadium, Indomilk Arena, Pakansari Stadium, Wibawa Mukti Stadium, Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium, Maguwoharjo Stadium, Jatidiri Stadium, Gelora Bumi Kartini Stadium, Kanjuruhan Stadium.
In addition, Surajaya Stadium, Gelora Delta Stadium, Gelora Madura Ratu Pamelingan Stadium, Joko Samudro Stadium, Demang Lehman Stadium, Segiri Stadium, BJ Habibie Stadium, Harapan Bangsa Stadium, Dimurthala Stadium, and the North Sumatra Main Stadium.
The Minister of Youth and Sports explained that many sports facilities in the regions built to support the National Sports Week (PON) or to meet local needs are not being utilized or are being neglected.
