Member of Commission III of the Republic of Indonesia's House of Representatives (DPR RI) Abdullah asked the police to respond seriously to the bomb terror against 10 schools in Depok City, West Java.
"I ask the police to respond quickly and in a measured manner, so that this terror attack does not have a destructive impact on the community ahead of the Christmas and New Year 2026 celebrations," he said in a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Abduh is worried that these terror incidents will continue in other areas and be exploited by irresponsible parties.
He also emphasized that the police should handle this case through one-stop communication to avoid panic.
"In my opinion, the police should create a one-stop communication channel to update information regarding the handling of this case to prevent misinformation or hoaxes that could cause public panic and further harm," he said.
In addition to the one-stop shop, Abduh reminded the police to remain vigilant, one way being to intensify Operation Lilin, which involves local governments, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), and other stakeholders.
"So, through this Candle Operation, patrols and security at vital sites, places of worship, schools, and other public spaces can be strengthened. It's also intended to anticipate other threats, both physical and digital," he explained.
In addition, Abduh asked the public not to panic and spread information that was not yet confirmed regarding the bomb terror in the Depok City area.
According to him, the impact of misinformation or hoaxes from terrorist incidents will create unstable conditions in society.
"Therefore, I ask all members of the public to remain calm as the police are working to address this terror. Let us unite and work together to create a safe and peaceful environment by the end of 2025," he said.
