Persita coach Carlos Pena praised his players' fighting spirit when they beat Arema FC 1-0 at Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency, East Java, Tuesday.
"I appreciate and am proud of the players for fighting hard to get three points here," Carlos said in a press conference after the match at Kanjuruhan Stadium.
The Spanish coach stated that during the visit to Malang, Persita faced unfavorable conditions, one of the reasons being the absence of midfielder Pablo Ganet.
The 31-year-old was absent due to playing for the Equatorial Guinea National Team in the African Cup of Nations.
They also lost right-back Mario Jardel who was withdrawn due to injury.
Then, since the 69th minute, the team played with 10 players due to the red card received by Andrea Rindorindo after fouling Arema FC striker Dedik Setiawan.
Carlos stated that when he lost one player, his 10 players ended up working extra hard to suppress Arema FC's attacks.
