Two of Indonesia's top athletes, Robi Syianturi and Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi, were appointed as the Indonesian flag bearers at the opening ceremony of the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand at Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok, Tuesday.The two led the Indonesian team of 69 athletes from six sports.
Robi, a long-distance runner who holds the national half marathon record, will appear wearing a formal black suit complete with Ulos and a typical North Sumatran headband.
Meanwhile, Megawati, the women's volleyball star currently shining in the Asian professional league, will wear a red kebaya combined with Tapis cloth and a Siger crown from Lampung.
In addition to Robi and Megawati, the Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian Team, Bayu Priawan Djokosoetono, Deputy CdM Zaenal Asikin, swimmer Samuel Maxson, equestrian athletes Brayen Brata Coolen and Karen Herjawan, and chess players Irene Kharisma Sukandar and Dewi Ardhiani Anastasia will also wear traditional clothing from various regions.
