Samsung has reportedly stopped developing the Galaxy S26 Edge slimline smartphone due to low sales of devices with slim designs.
According to a Gizmochina release on Monday (22/12), Samsung was previously rumored to be considering replacing the Galaxy S26+ model with a new Edge version in 2026.
However, the plan later changed, with the company opting for a more cautious approach. Now, several sources say the project has been canceled entirely.
The Galaxy S25 Edge was designed with a focus on a very thin profile. However, this design choice has several drawbacks, including impacting the 3,900mAh battery's lifespan in everyday use.
Furthermore, the ultra-thin design also impacts camera performance. The Galaxy S25 Edge lacks a telephoto lens, and its competitor, the iPhone Air, only has a single rear camera.
Overall, it seems that additional lens support, all-day battery life, and better heat dissipation are more important to buyers than the device's ultra-thin and light design.
