The developers of the Telegram app announced that the latest version of the app for Android and iOS systems has gained the "access keys" feature, which makes the app easier to use with better data protection.

The "access key" (Passkey) is created in dedicated password manager software, stored on the device itself, and allows for quick and secure login without using the verification codes that the user previously received via SMS. It can be used to log in using a short password created by the user, as well as fingerprints or facial recognition.

To take advantage of the new feature, the user must follow these steps:

- Open the "Telegram" app and go to "Settings".

- Select the "Privacy" section and then go to "Access Key".

- Click on "Create Access Key" and select "Add Entry Key".

To create the key, you can use the built-in password managers from Google and Apple, as well as other options such as 1Password.

The "access key" can also be easily deleted. For example, on iPhones, this requires dragging the created key to the left with your finger and then tapping "Delete".

Telegram has begun expanding its authentication methods for using the app after information appeared in the media at the end of last October about Russia beginning to impose restrictions on sending access codes to the app via SMS. For example, the app has also added the ability to link an email address to the account to receive access codes to the app account, a feature that was previously available to a limited number of users.
