The Indonesian Navy deployed the KRI Dr Soeharso hospital to distribute logistics and provide health services to flood victims in Tamiang, Aceh, on Thursday.
The Commander of the Indonesian Navy's Natural Disaster Management Task Force in Sumatra, Navy Colonel (P) Afif Yuhardi Putera, said that the activity was a form of the Indonesian Navy's commitment to supporting the post-flood disaster recovery process in Aceh.
Afif explained that today the KRI Dr Soeharso was carrying logistics consisting of food and clothing for the flood victims in Tamiang.
"The total number of basic necessities distributed to the KRI Soeharso is 500 sacks of rice, 250 boxes of noodles, 350 boxes of mineral water, cooking oil, snacks, mattresses for sleeping, several sacks of sugar, and several sacks of new clothes from Jakarta," said Afif when confirmed at the location.
The supplies were distributed to fishing boats, which then distributed them to flood-affected areas via river routes. In addition to river routes, the Indonesian Navy also deployed helicopters to deliver supplies to locations difficult to access by land.
Not only distributing logistics, KRI Dr Soeharso also provided health services to several flood victims.

According to Afif, the KRI is equipped with a variety of high-quality healthcare facilities, including operating rooms, treatment rooms, and X-ray facilities, just like a typical hospital. The KRI's personnel also include soldiers and medical personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Defense University.
Afif continued, at the same time, the KRI Dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat was also being deployed to the Sibolga area to carry out the same task, namely providing logistics and providing health services for the victims.
