Zenit St. Petersburg turned a one-goal deficit into a 2-1 victory over their guest Sochi in the match that brought them together today, Sunday, as part of the 29th round of the Russian Premier League.
Russian striker Zakhar Fyodorov put Sochi ahead with a goal in the 31st minute of the first half, after Brazilian player Luis Henrique Rosa missed an early opportunity to score the opening goal for the home side 13 minutes after the opening whistle, by missing a penalty kick.
But Luis Enrique came back and scored the equalizer for Zenit St. Petersburg in the 59th minute, and then his Russian teammate Alexander Yerokhin snatched the winning goal by the 84th minute of the match.
Zenit St. Petersburg climbed to the top of the league standings after this victory, with 65 points, two points ahead of Krasnodar before their match against Dynamo Moscow on Monday.
In contrast, Sochi's tally remains at 21 points, and they are at the bottom of the standings.
