Communications and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid is targeting accelerated connection restoration in several areas affected by floods and landslides in Sumatra within four days with electricity assistance from PLN.
"PLN said that hopefully the electricity will be back on in four days. Therefore, we are quite optimistic that on the 5th, with the availability of electricity in Aceh, this can increase to 75 percent from the current 40 percent," said Meutya in a press conference on the Coordination Meeting on Handling Telecommunication Access in the Flood and Landslide Disasters in Sumatra at the Balai Monitor, Medan, North Sumatra, on Monday.
Meutya said that 60 percent of the Aceh region's internet and telecommunications networks were cut off due to electricity not being restored in the disaster-affected areas.
Meutya said PLN is targeting electricity access to be restored by December 4, so the three cellular operators can repair their infrastructure and networks simultaneously the following day.
