The Ministry of Communication and Digital and the Ministry of Health are preparing a satellite-based emergency connectivity service to support communications at healthcare service points.
"In accordance with the Ministry of Communication and Digital's duties and functions, we are trying to strengthen our telecommunications network, and several installations have already been made, including Starlink. We are also coordinating with mobile operators (OPsel) to restore base transceiver stations (BTS) around hospitals," said Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria in a statement.
He explained that since the disaster, the government has immediately taken steps to clean and repair equipment so that medical services can resume operations, including ensuring connectivity. He emphasized that the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, along with cellular operators, is continuing to repair affected base transceiver stations (BTS).
" Thank God, the repairs are starting to progress. Currently, the telecommunications network uptime in Aceh Tamiang is approximately 70 percent, and we are trying to maintain it so it remains stable going forward," said Nezar.
