The WBC has issued five conditions for world champion Subriel Matias, who is caught with doping.

The World Boxing Council (WBC) has issued five conditions for WBC super lightweight world champion Subriel Matias, who is caught in a doping case involving the use of a banned substance, ostarine.

The WBC report on its official website, monitored in Jakarta, Thursday, stated that in the spirit of fair and speedy resolution, the WBC and Subriel Matias agreed that the champion would, first, be placed on probation for one year from the date of the sample collection.

Second, they must undergo additional random anti-doping testing during the probationary period at their own expense. Third, they must pay for and participate in a nutrition education program designed and implemented by the WBC Nutrition Committee.

Fourth, visit a boxing gym to discuss the dangers of consuming potentially contaminated nutritional supplements. Fifth, face an indefinite suspension without further investigation if Matias tests positive during the probationary period.

Matias' doping case was discovered by the WBC based on a Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) report received on November 15 regarding an unfavorable analytical finding consistent with the presence of ostarine in a urine sample taken from him on November 9.

Ostarine is a selective androgen receptor modulator or SARM that attaches to proteins in the human body and effectively tells muscles to grow.

Ostarine is known to be used to enhance performance by helping athletes build muscle mass, accelerate fat burning rates, and improve stamina and recovery ability.

The WBC stated that ostarine and all SARMs are prohibited for use under all conditions under the WBC Anti-Doping Rules (WBC CBP).

The WBC considered a number of facts as mitigating circumstances related to the actions taken in Matias' case such as the consumption of supplements known to be contaminated with ostarine during the period relevant to sample collection.

Then, negative findings were reported in the credible scientific literature that were caused by supplements contaminated with ostarine, some of which contained the same active ingredient that Matias was taking.

WBC explained that the ostarine levels reported in the negative findings were relatively low (0.85 ng/mL) and consistent with an ostarine-contaminated supplement.
