Netanyahu's office said in a statement: "The Prime Minister spoke a short time ago with US President Trump," adding: "The two leaders emphasized the importance and commitment to disarming Hamas and demilitarizing the Gaza Strip, and discussed expanding the peace agreements."
Trump invited Netanyahu to "a meeting at the White House in the near future," according to the same source.
While Netanyahu’s statement made no mention of Syria, the official Hebrew Broadcasting Authority said that the phone call between the Israeli Prime Minister and Trump came against the backdrop of American efforts to calm tensions between Israel and Syria following the Israeli incursion into the town of Beit Jann in the south of the country.
The agency added: "The United States is seeking to calm tensions between Israel and Syria following the incident last weekend in which six Israeli soldiers were wounded by gunfire in the village of Beit Jann in southern Syria."
Earlier today, US President Donald Trump called on Israel to maintain a "strong and genuine dialogue" with Damascus and to ensure that "nothing happens that would conflict with Syria's development into a prosperous nation."
Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform: "It is very important that Israel maintain a strong and genuine dialogue with Syria, and that nothing happens that would conflict with Syria's development into a prosperous nation."
He added: "The new Syrian President, Ahmed al-Sharaa, is working hard to ensure that good things happen (regarding the dialogue with Israel), and that both Syria and Israel enjoy a long and prosperous relationship together."
Since the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s regime on December 8, 2014, the Israeli occupation army has repeatedly infiltrated Syrian territory, launching airstrikes that have killed civilians and destroyed Syrian army sites, military vehicles, weapons and ammunition.
Days earlier, an Israeli patrol entered the town of Beit Jinn in the Damascus countryside in southern Syria, leading to an armed clash with the locals, which resulted in the injury of 6 Israeli soldiers, including 3 officers.
Following this, Tel Aviv committed a massacre in retaliation against the townspeople who tried to defend their land, through an air attack that resulted in the killing of 13 people, including women and children, and the injury of about 25 others.
The town of Beit Jann is located on the slopes of Mount Hermon, and is only about 10 kilometers away from the border separating the occupied Golan Heights and Israel.
The Israeli occupation army also renews its violation of Syrian sovereignty on a daily basis by sending forces and military vehicles into the Quneitra countryside in the southwest of the country.
Although the Syrian government posed no threat to Tel Aviv, Israel continued to carry out ground incursions and air raids that killed civilians and destroyed Syrian army sites, vehicles, weapons and ammunition.
