The Ministry of Youth and Sports has designated 21 leading sports branches for the National Sports Grand Design .Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir stated that a total of 21 revised sports will be the focus of national development.
Of the 21 branches, there are 20 branches that are categorized as superior Olympic branches and one branch is road to world stage.
"The majority are individual sports, not team sports. This is intended to demonstrate the nation's superiority," said Erick Thohir in a working meeting with Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Parliament Building, Senayan.
The selection of these 21 branches was based on historical indicators, traditions, potential achievements, and a reflection of the nation's strength.
