Arema FC has signed goalkeeper Gianluca Claudio Pandeynuwu on loan from Persis Solo until the end of the 2025/2026 BRI Super League season.
Arema FC General Manager Yusrinal Fitriandi said in Malang City, East Java, on Tuesday that the recruitment of a player for the goalkeeper position was a decision based on the results of an evaluation to strengthen the squad's depth by the management and coaching team.
"After an evaluation, we believe the goalkeeper position still needs reinforcement. The loan agreement is a joint agreement between Arema FC and Persis Solo," said Inal, Yusrinal's nickname.
The 28-year-old's arrival will intensify competition for the goalkeeper position. Arema FC currently has three goalkeepers: Lucas Frigeri, Adi Satryo, and Andrian Casvari.
Inal is optimistic that Arema FC's goalkeepers can compete fairly to get playing time from coach Marcos Santos.
"We hope that Gianluca can adapt well during his time at Arema FC," he said.
Based on data from the transfermarkt website, during his time defending Persis Solo this season, Gialuca Claudio Pandeynuwu has only accumulated 270 minutes of playing time from a total of three appearances with the club nicknamed Laskar Sambernyawa.
In three appearances, Gianluca has yet to keep a clean sheet . In total, Persis Solo has conceded seven goals during his time in charge.
Before joining Persis, Gianluca was recorded as having defended Borneo FC U-20 in the 2015/2016 season.
A year later, in the 2016/2017 season, he was promoted to the Borneo FC first team. However, Gianluca was loaned to PSPS Pekanbaru that same season and returned to Borneo in the 2017/2018 season.
After that, the player moved to Persis Solo in the 2022/2023 season and finally moved to Arema FC on loan in the mid-season transfer window.
