Ashraf Sobhi, the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, made a phone call to Mohamed Saad Barada, the Moroccan Minister of National Education, Early Childhood Education and Sports

The Egyptian Ministry of Sports' media center stated on Tuesday that during the call, the deep historical and fraternal relations between Egypt and Morocco were emphasized, which extend over decades of cooperation and integration in various fields, especially sports and youth, stressing that sports competition must remain within its civilized framework based on mutual respect and sportsmanship.

The same source added: “This comes within the framework of joint coordination and the keenness of both sides to calm the sporting atmosphere among the fans, and to emphasize that sports represent a bridge for rapprochement between peoples and not a cause of conflict, and that sports are an effective soft power in consolidating relations between peoples and supporting paths of rapprochement and cooperation between sister countries.”

Ashraf Sobhi pointed to Morocco’s success in hosting the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, stressing his rejection of any manifestations of fanaticism or abuse that could negatively affect the distinguished relations between the two brotherly countries, or distort the image of the Arab fans.

For his part, Moroccan Minister Mohamed Saad Barada appreciated this communication, stressing Morocco’s appreciation for the strategic relations that unite it with Egypt, and his country’s keenness to support all initiatives that contribute to strengthening Arab brotherhood and spreading positive values among young people.
