Chelsea start 2026 by sacking Enzo Maresca
Chelsea kicked off 2026 by sacking Enzo Maresca as manager, the Premier League club's official website reported on Thursday.

Reports about Maresca's possible dismissal have been circulating for some time now, with reports suggesting he may not be in charge of the Blues when they face Manchester City on Sunday (4/1).

"Chelsea Football Club and head coach Enzo Maresca have officially ended their partnership. During his time at the club, Enzo led the team to success in the Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup," Chelsea said on their Instagram account.

"This achievement will remain an important part of the club's history and we would like to thank Maresca for his contribution to Chelsea."

"With a number of important targets still to be pursued across four competitions, including qualifying for the Champions League, Enzo and the club believe this change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track," he continued.
