Gabon's government suspended its national team after it was eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations.  The Gabon government has suspended its national football team indefinitely after being eliminated in the group stage of the African Cup of Nations.

"Given the Panthers' disgraceful performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, and considering the multidimensional impacts that are diametrically opposed to the ethical and exemplary values espoused by the Fifth Republic, the Government decides: to dissolve the technical staff; to suspend the national team until further notice; and to exclude players Bruno Ecuele Manga and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from the national team," the Gabon government said, as quoted by The Athletic.

The Gabonese government also asked the Gabonese Football Federation to take full responsibility.

Gabon finished bottom of Group F after losing all three of their group stage matches at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

In their last match, they held a 2-0 lead over Ivory Coast, but their opponents fought back. Goals from Jean-Phillippe Krasso, Evan Guessand, and Bazoumana Traore secured Ivory Coast's victory.
