Novak Djokovic advanced to the Australian Open semifinals when Lorenzo Musetti was forced to retire while leading 6-4, 6-3, 1-3 in their quarterfinal match in Melbourne on Wednesday.
"I don't know what to say other than I feel really sorry for him and he's a much better player," Djokovic was quoted as saying by ATP.
Stepping onto Rod Laver Arena having lost his previous three Grand Slam meetings with Djokovic, Musetti put in a superb performance to take a two-set lead, but he appeared to injure his upper right thigh in the third game of the third set.
