Dony Tri wishes John Herdman success in coaching the Indonesian national team.
Persija Jakarta player Dony Tri Pamungkas offered his best wishes after the Indonesian national team appointed a new coach, John Herdman, who was officially introduced to the public on January 13.
Herdman is the coach who led the Canadian national team to qualify for the 2022 World Cup after making her debut in 1986. She is also the coach who led the New Zealand women's team to two Women's World Cups, as well as leading the Canadian women's team to two bronze medals at the Olympics.
"My response is that Coach John Herdman is probably a pretty good coach. So, good luck to him coaching the Indonesian national team, and we hope he can do even better in the future," Dony said at a press conference before the BRI Super League match against Madura United in Jakarta on Thursday.
Persija will start their first match in the second round of the 2025/2026 BRI Super League tonight at 7:00 PM WIB against Madura at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium .
Herdman is reportedly going to watch the match and Dony said he would be even more motivated if the English coach watched it live at SUGBK.
