Fidan and his Saudi counterpart discuss developments in the second phase of the Gaza plan
This came during a telephone call between the two sides, according to Turkish diplomatic sources, without disclosing further details about the content of the talks.

The call comes amid stalled progress toward the second phase of the peace plan, despite the first phase having entered into force on October 10, amid repeated Israeli violations that have resulted in the death and injury of hundreds of Palestinian civilians.

The UN Security Council adopted on November 18 a US draft resolution on ending the Israeli war of extermination in Gaza, which stipulates the establishment of a temporary international force and the administration of the sector through a transitional Palestinian technocratic government, as part of a peace plan announced by US President Donald Trump on September 29.

Over the course of two years since October 7, 2023, the Israeli genocide, with American support, in Gaza has left more than 71,000 Palestinian martyrs and 171,000 wounded, most of them children and women, and has destroyed about 90% of the civilian infrastructure, with reconstruction costs estimated by the United Nations at about $70 billion.
