FIFA and computer manufacturer Lenovo introduced a series of artificial intelligence (AI)-based technological innovations aimed at improving refereeing technology, match analysis capabilities and performance, and strengthening fan engagement ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will feature 48 teams.The innovation, called Football AI, was announced by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Lenovo Chairman and CEO Yuanqing Yang at the Lenovo Tech World 2026 event held on the opening day of CES at the Sphere in Las Vegas, United States.
This suite of innovations includes Football AI Pro, AI-based 3D player avatars, as well as the latest version of Referee View for match broadcasts.
