World football transfer spending hit a new record in 2025, becoming the highest in history.

According to the Global Transfer Report, released on Wednesday, FIFA revealed that the total spending by world clubs on international men's football transfers reached US$13.08 billion (around Rp219 trillion).

Throughout 2025, 24,558 international transfers were recorded in men's football. This represents an increase of more than seven percent compared to 2024 and the highest volume of international transfers ever recorded.

When calculated across all levels of competition, from men's and women's professional football to amateur level, FIFA recorded a total of 86,158 international player transfers throughout 2025.

This figure also marks an all-time high. Several high-profile transfers will color the player market in 2025.

One of the most prominent was the move of German midfielder Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen to Premier League champions Liverpool.

The Reds signed the 22-year-old for a confirmed fee of £100 million, or around Rp2.30 trillion, plus performance bonuses of up to £16 million (Rp369 billion).
