The chairman of the PSSI Referee Committee, Yoshimi Ogawa, said he would again bring in a number of foreign referees to officiate the second round of the 2025/2026 BRI Super League, after several foreign referees officiated in the first round.
Foreign referees who have served in the Super League this season include Muhammad Taqi , Nadjafaliev Asker , Muhammad Nazmi , and Ko Hyung-jin ).
"Actually, it's not just foreign referees; we also need to invite qualified referees from abroad. However, we need to understand, we need to ask them to understand, because top Asian referees are also busy officiating in the ACLE (AFC Champions League Elite) and ACL 2," Ogawa said when met at the GBK Arena .
"But in principle, we now have confidence in several local referees. That's why, whenever possible, we should appoint local referees (to officiate matches)," he continued.
"We also have Yamamoto Yudai as a full-time foreign referee. That's why we believe he can make quality decisions on the field. But yes, we still invite foreign referees who are truly qualified," said Ogawa.
