Former Russian national football team coach Boris Ignatiev dies at 86

Boris Ignatiev, the former coach of the Russian national football team, has died at the age of 86, according to media reports, after a battle with cancer.

Ignatiev led the Russian national team between 1996 and 1998, succeeding Oleg Romantsev, and also worked with several Russian and foreign clubs, including Moscow Torpedo, Ramenske Saturn, Shandong Lunen of China, and Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia.

The coach's wife explained that the death was due to complications from cancer and heart problems, and the date of the funeral has not yet been determined.

It is worth noting that Ignatiev had a long coaching career at both the club and national team levels, leaving a clear mark on Russian and Soviet football.
