House Member: Allocate Rp9.4 trillion to boost human resources for Papua's younger generation
Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Robert J. Kardinal stated that improving the quality of human resources (HR) of Papua's younger generation can begin with a budget allocation of just Rp9.4 trillion.

According to Robert, the funds are sufficient to operate 3,772 elementary schools (SD) across Papua with a full-day school (SSH) system, an educational model believed to have a significant impact on character building, academic skills, and the quality of life of Papuan children.

"If President Prabowo truly wants to improve the quality of Papua's human resources, he only needs to allocate Rp9.4 trillion. That would be enough to operate thousands of elementary schools in Papua with a full-day school system," Robert said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Robert said that SSH is an educational model that places students in learning from morning to evening to improve the quality of learning, character, and interaction.

Besides aiming to improve the quality of education in Papua, it also aims to address the problem of stunting by providing nutritious food in Papua.

"During the learning period, children will also receive three meals a day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner," he said.

In fact, he said, SSH is already being implemented in several regions in Papua. In practice, SSH begins at 6:00 a.m. with breakfast, followed by learning activities until 1:00 p.m., followed by a lunch break.

Furthermore, extracurricular activities and additional learning in the afternoon until 17.00 and lunch.

However, the number of SSHs is very limited due to budgetary issues. The SSH budget does not use the national budget at all, but is 100% sourced from the regional budget and village funds.
