IDAI recommends that parents still bathe their children when they have chickenpox.

The Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI) recommends that parents continue to bathe their children even if they have chickenpox (varicella).

"Varicella does cause itching, so children can be bathed," said Dr. dr. Ratni Indrawanti, Sp.A, Subsp.IPT (K), a member of the IDAI Tropical Disease Infection Coordination Work Unit (UKK) during an online discussion in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Ratni said that the information stating that children with chickenpox should not bathe is wrong.

Children who have chicken pox should be bathed to keep their skin clean and healthy and prevent prickly heat or miliaria from appearing.

Bathing will also help children feel more comfortable doing activities even if their body is not feeling well.
