The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) has requested an official explanation from Meta, the organizer of the Instagram electronic system (PSE), regarding the alleged user data leak and circulating information regarding the password reset process.The Director General of Digital Space Supervision at Kemkomdigi, Alexander Sabar, in a statement in Jakarta on Friday, stated that Meta explained that the password reset process is an internal mechanism that runs through Instagram's official system and does not open password access to other parties.
"No user password can be accessed or obtained by any party other than the account owner themselves, and there is no indication of misuse of the password reset feature for data collection by external parties. The in-depth process is still ongoing and the results will form the basis for further evaluation," said Director General Alexander.
He continued that Instagram's official system does not open password access to other parties.
Meanwhile, regarding the information on the alleged data leak linked to a third-party report, Instagram stated that further investigations are still underway to confirm the validity of the issue.
