Former MotoGP racer Miguel Oliveira said he would be very happy if BMW created a team for MotoGP.
Miguel Oliveira, who is currently moving to World Superbike racing with BMW, said that the project is very possible considering the German manufacturer's success in WorldSBK in the last few seasons.
"They've been in the championship (WorldSBK) for over a decade now. So they're quite well-known, and they're one of the strongest manufacturers," said Miguel Oliveira, as quoted by Crash, Tuesday.
"So you would think that would be a natural step to come up, but it depends on a lot of things, which I don't really know what people are talking about. But I would love to see them (in MotoGP), of course," he added
The Portuguese racer admitted that it was not his capacity to assess whether BMW would expand into MotoGP in the next few years.
Moreover, BMW is currently targeting the WorldSBK world championship title after previously bringing Toprak Razgatlioglu to become the world champion.
With two experienced riders, Oliveira and Danilo Petrucci, BMW is now preparing to develop a prototype motorcycle that was just tested at the Jerez Circuit last week.
Meanwhile, MotoGP for the upcoming 2027 season will use tires from the manufacturer Pirelli, which are the tires already used in WorldSBK.
