The MilkLife Soccer Challenge (MLSC) 2025/2026 Series 2 of the girls' youth soccer tournament has officially added Samarinda and Banjarmasin as host cities.
With this addition, MLSC is now held in 12 cities in Indonesia.
"The MilkLife Soccer Challenge is designed as a long-term program. After Series 1 ran in 10 cities, we moved on to Series 2 to ensure participants have the certainty of ongoing competition," said MilkLife Soccer Challenge Program Director Teddy Tjahjono in a written statement on Wednesday.
The 2025–2026 MLSC Series 2, supported by Bayan Peduli, will be held in Kalimantan. The tournament, featuring age groups 8, 10, and 12, was initiated by the Bakti Olahraga Djarum Foundation and MilkLife.
Teddy said that the continuity of the tournament is an important part of developing girls' soccer from an early age.
He explained that the addition of Samarinda and Banjarmasin aims to expand the coaching base outside of Java, given the high interest and potential of women's soccer in Kalimantan. MLSC Series 2 also involves former Indonesian national team coach Jacksen Ferreira Tiago as head coach, alongside Timo Scheunemann.
According to Teddy, the implementation of the MLSC has had an impact on the growth of the women's football ecosystem, marked by the increasing number of girls' football schools and schools (SSB) in the host region.
Meanwhile, Group Brand Head Dairy PT Global Dairi Alami as the producer of MilkLife, Vanessa Ingrid Pamela, stated that support for MLSC is part of the company's commitment to supporting the growth and development of the younger generation through sports.
"We see MLSC as more than just a tournament, but a collaborative movement involving athletes, schools, parents, and local football clubs," he said.
Support in Kalimantan is provided by Bayan Peduli, the Bayan Group's social responsibility program. PT Bayan Resources Tbk Director Merlin stated that the MilkLife Soccer Challenge aligns with the company's commitment to sports development and the development of young athletes, particularly women's soccer.
"Through Bayan Peduli, we want to contribute to strengthening the women's football ecosystem in Kalimantan by fully supporting the MLSC in Samarinda and Banjarmasin," said Merlin.
The MilkLife Soccer Challenge saw an increase in the number of participants with each series. Series 1 in 2024 recorded 5,163 participants, increasing to 10,051 in Series 2 in 2024. Meanwhile, in Series 1 in 2025–2026, the number of participants reached 17,492 female students from various regions.
