Ministry of Communication and Digital: Potential losses due to online gambling reach IDR 1,100 trillion

The Director General of Digital Space Supervision at the Ministry of Communication and Digital , Alexander Sabar, said that potential losses from online gambling activities could reach Rp1,100 trillion if the government does not intervene.

Alexander stated that the figure was based on a report from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).

"As stated by the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), without adequate intervention, potential losses from online gambling are estimated to reach Rp1,100 trillion by the end of 2025," Alexander said during a discussion.

He emphasized that online gambling is a serious threat to the social and economic resilience of Indonesian society.

"These figures are not just statistics, but reflect a real impact on family well-being and the future of the nation's generations," he said.

However, online gambling activity can be curbed thanks to cross-sector collaboration between the government, the public, and the private sector. He explained that, according to the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), there will be a significant decline in online gambling activity by the end of 2025.
