Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria said that the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) on the use of artificial intelligence ( AI ) does not regulate sanctions for violations in AI development, including the creation and distribution of pornographic content using AI.
According to him, sanctions for creating and distributing pornographic content using AI are regulated in the Law on Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) and the Pornography Law, along with their derivative regulations.
"The Presidential Decree on AI doesn't regulate sanctions. Violations committed in AI development are covered by the ITE Law, the Pornography Law, and a number of ministerial regulations issued by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and the Ministry of Digital Economy," Nezar said.
The government is targeting the publication of the National AI Roadmap and AI ethics guidelines in the form of a Presidential Decree within the next two months.
"Because there are so many Presidential Regulation plans coming in, they're still being finalized. We hope to have them completed within the next two months," said Nezar.
