Nigerian star Alex Iwobi revealed the conversation that took place between him and Egyptian goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir during the penalty shootout in the third-place match of the Africa Cup of Nations between the Eagles and the Pharaohs

As Iwobi prepared to take Nigeria's fourth and penultimate penalty, Shobeir approached him in an attempt to distract him, which was clearly captured by the cameras.

But the provocation attempt was in vain, as Iwobi successfully converted his penalty, paving the way for his teammate Ademola Lookman to score the fifth penalty, leading Nigeria to a 4-2 penalty shootout victory after the match ended in a goalless draw, thus crowning the Nigerian team with the bronze medal.

In a video later posted from inside the Nigerian team bus, Lookman asked his teammate Iwobi: "What did the Egyptian goalkeeper say to you?" Iwobi replied, laughing:

"He told me: I know where you're going to shoot... If I save your shot, will you give me your shirt?"

He replied, "No problem, I'll give you my shirt."

Then he added, smiling: "I scored the goal and I was just laughing!"

It is worth noting that Nigeria had lost to Morocco on penalties in the semi-finals, while the Egyptian national team fell to Senegal by a single goal in the same round.

The Senegalese national team won the championship title after defeating Morocco 1-0 in the final match.
