Experts explained that "Ozembek hands" involves the appearance of very thin, skeletal-like hands and fingers in some users.

Weight loss injections lead to a rapid loss of body fat and muscle, including subcutaneous fat in the hands, making bones, veins, and tendons more visible.

Doctors noticed this phenomenon after the widespread use of injections, and some patients reported needing to change the size of their rings due to the shrinking of their fingers.

The topic resurfaced after videos circulated on social media showing noticeable changes in the hands of some celebrities, sparking speculation about a possible link between these changes and weight-loss injections. Among them was reality TV star Khloé Kardashian, whose current hand photos were compared to photos from ten years ago in a video that garnered widespread attention and discussion among her followers.

Pharmacist Deborah Grayson explained that thinning of the hands is caused by rapid fat loss that does not occur equally in all areas of the body, noting that the hands naturally contain a small amount of fat, so this change is more noticeable.

She added that this effect is not a direct harm from the drug, but rather a result of rapid weight loss, and that it can continue as long as the person has not regained their weight.

Dr. Donald Grant confirmed that this side effect does not pose a significant medical risk, but advised patients to monitor for any changes and seek medical advice when needed.

These developments come amid a rise in the use of GLP-1 drugs for weight loss. Despite the health benefits of reducing the risk of heart disease and strokes, there are warnings of potential side effects including cosmetic changes such as sagging skin, which may require surgical procedures, in addition to other health risks.
