Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho, manager of Benfica, has put an end to the controversy surrounding his name and his possible connection to a return to Real Madrid after the dismissal of Xabi Alonso and the appointment of Alvaro Arbeloa

Real Madrid is experiencing a period of technical instability after the dismissal of its former coach Xabi Alonso and the appointment of Alvaro Arbeloa as a replacement, amid reports confirming that the latter will occupy this position temporarily until a big name is contracted to lead the Royal Giant's training next season.

Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho of Benfica commented decisively on the press rumors that he is close to returning to coach Real Madrid, specifically during the summer transfer window, in preparation for the 2026-2027 sports season.

Mourinho's comments came after Benfica's victory over Rio Ave in a match held on Saturday evening, as the veteran coach faced questions from journalists regarding the rumors linking him to coaching Real Madrid.

Mourinho responded by asking the media to stop dragging his name into soap opera-like stories, in a clear indication that he considered the news unrealistic and unrelated to the truth.

He added: "Don't put my name in the drama series. There are some good works, but they go on for too long. You miss an episode or two and then you can't follow the story anymore. Don't consider me a party to this matter, as I will not enter into this debate."

It is worth noting that Mourinho coached Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013 and managed to win 3 titles: La Liga, the King's Cup and the Spanish Super Cup.

Mourinho is currently the manager of Benfica, whom he took over earlier this season in the Portuguese league, and has no plans to leave the team.
