Rodrigo Bentancur out for three months due to injury

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur will be sidelined for three months due to a hamstring injury sustained in the Premier League match against Bournemouth on Wednesday (7/1), The Athletic reported on Tuesday.

Bentancur was withdrawn in the final minutes of Tottenham's 2-3 defeat to Bournemouth.

Head coach Thomas Frank confirmed the midfielder has suffered a hamstring injury and initial tests suggest the injury is serious.

Sources familiar with Spurs' situation have told The Athletic that Tottenham are expected to strengthen their midfield following Bentancur's diagnosis in the January transfer window.

This season, Bentancur has made 28 appearances and started 17 of the 21 league games.

He just signed a new long-term contract with Spurs last October.
