Ruud changes his playing style by studying the game of young tennis players.  Norwegian tennis player Casper Ruud has changed his playing style by studying the techniques of younger players ahead of his first match at the 2026 ASB Classic after competing in the United Cup mixed team event.

Ruud, who once reached a peak ranking of world number two and reached three major finals , has observed the evolution of a new wave of young players spearheaded by 19-year-old Joao Fonseca and 20-year-old Jakub Mensik.

"Seeing how the game has changed made me realize that maybe I need to change my game a little bit. In an effort to improve, I've been studying the younger players a lot over the past few weeks and months to see how my game needs to evolve to cope with their style of tennis," Ruud said, as quoted by the ATP on Wednesday.
