A new fatal collision has occurred in South Africa, involving a minibus and a truck.
The accident occurred early Thursday near the city of Durban, in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, killing 11 people instantly, including a schoolboy, according to initial information collected by agencies on site.
This tragedy comes barely ten days after another deadly accident: fourteen students lost their lives in the crash of a school bus, about 60 kilometers south of Johannesburg.
The driver of the minibus involved in the Durban crash has been arrested and charged with 14 counts of murder. Authorities accuse him of losing control of his vehicle after attempting a dangerous overtake.
Accidents involving minibuses, the main means of transport for many South Africans, are common in the country. Last October, 18 children were already seriously injured in a similar accident on a highway in KwaZulu-Natal.
