South Jakarta Satpol PP regulates street vendors on Jalan Suryo
The South Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) has taken action against street vendors (PKL) along Jalan Suryo, Rawa Barat Subdistrict, Kebayoran Baru District, South Jakarta (Jaksel).

"Currently, we are acting humanely in accordance with the direction of DKI Governor Pramono Anung," said South Jakarta Satpol PP Head Nanto Dwi Subekti when contacted in Jakarta on Friday.

According to him, this regulation is in accordance with Regional Regulation Number 8 of 2007 concerning Public Order, which states that street vendors must be given a warning or admonition first before taking action.

During the operation, all personnel were instructed to prioritize a humane and informative approach to violators. There were no obstacles during the enforcement operation.

"We are collecting data and issuing warnings in the hope that they will not resume their activities or park in inappropriate locations," said Nanto.

Meanwhile, Rawa Barat Village Head Merinta Hendri Purnomo said the cleanup was an effort to create a neat, orderly, and pedestrian-friendly South Jakarta area.

"Over the past week, we have been conducting intensive enforcement. We have urged vendors and vehicles caught illegally parked on the roadside or sidewalks not to repeat their actions," said Merinta.

He further explained that the operation, which involved around 10 joint personnel from the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), the Transportation Agency, the Fire and Rescue Sub-agency, and other related elements, was able to control dozens of street vendors and illegally parked vehicles, dominated by online motorcycle taxis.

"Currently, we, along with the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), specifically those enforcing Regional Regulations regarding Public Order, are only providing warnings. However, if violations continue, action will be taken in accordance with applicable regulations," Merinta emphasized.

Previously, the South Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) controlled 10 street vendors on Jalan HR Rasuna Said Kuningan, Setiabudi, as an effort to create a neat, orderly, and pedestrian-friendly area.
