Visiting Sudan, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights spoke with 50 representatives of civil society and non-governmental organizations on Thursday in Dongola, capital of the Northern State.

At the center of the meeting, the challenges of people displaced by the violence in Darfur and Kordofan. At the end of October, paramilitaries took control of Darfur during clashes with the army amid executions, rapes and looting. According to the UN, more than 9 million people have been displaced within Sudan since the start of the war in April 2023.
