Tangerang Hawks Basketball coach Antonius Joko Endratmo is confident his team can go further in the 2026 Indonesian Basketball League (IBL), which begins on January 10.
He said the team was optimistic about getting through the first round of the playoffs that season.
"Hopefully, it will be achieved (surpassing last season's achievement), amen," said Antonius when contacted.
To achieve this, the club management has overhauled many of the players' compositions, in order to return to the playoffs , even getting past the first round to win the title.
Successfully qualifying for the playoffs in the 2025 season is a driving force for management, after failing to achieve that goal since 2022.
In the 2024 season, the Hawks finished only 11th in the final standings with a record of eight wins and 18 losses.
A year later, their performance improved to eighth place with a balanced record of 13-13 (win-loss), although their progress was stopped in the first round.
After the 2025 season, the Hawks opted to dismantle most of their squad. The club retained only four existing players: Gabriel Batistuta Risky, Justin Jaya Wiyanto, Keefe Fitrano Yoshe, and Winston Swenjaya, who returned after recovering from injury and was traded to Satria Muda.
This decision ensures that the Hawks will appear with a new face in next season's competition.
