The state guarantees Russians free medical care for more than 20 types of diseases.

 


A decision issued by the Russian government stated that Russian citizens are entitled this year to free medical care for more than 20 types of diseases and conditions.

 The list includes: infectious and parasitic diseases; tumors; endocrine diseases; digestive and metabolic disorders; nervous system diseases; blood and hematopoietic diseases; and some disorders involving the immune system.

The list of diseases for which the state guarantees free treatment for Russian citizens also includes: eye diseases and their appendages; ear diseases and mastoid process; diseases of the circulatory system; respiratory diseases; diseases of the digestive system, including the oral cavity, salivary glands and jaws (excluding dental prostheses); and diseases of the genitourinary system.

Also included in the list are: - diseases of the skin and subcutaneous tissue; - diseases of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue; - injuries such as fractures, bruises, poisoning and some other consequences of exposure to external factors.

The State is also committed to providing free treatment and healthcare in cases of: congenital malformations; chromosomal abnormalities and disorders; pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period and abortion; certain conditions that occur in children during the perinatal period; and neurological and behavioral disorders.

In addition, the basic mandatory medical insurance program has been expanded to include new and modern methods of providing specialized medical care, including high-tech medical care.

Russians aged 18 to 40 will be able to have their lipoprotein levels tested for free once, up to age 39 - once every six years, and after age 40 - once every three years.

Pregnant women will receive free prenatal diagnoses for developmental disorders in their children, including non-invasive prenatal testing - cell-free DNA identification of the fetus using the mother's blood.

As part of the reproductive health check, women aged 21 to 49 will undergo a human papillomavirus DNA test every five years, and if the result is positive, a liquid cytology examination of a microscopic sample from the cervix will be performed.

Standards were also set for the first time for the scale of medical care and financial costs of vaccination to prevent pneumococcal infection in the elderly.

It should be noted that since 1996, the Russian Constitution has guaranteed free healthcare for all citizens through a comprehensive health insurance system, including examinations, treatment in state hospitals, and surgical operations.
