Women's singles player Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo returned to the court by contributing a point as the Indonesian women's badminton team defeated Hong Kong with a score of 4-1 in the Group X match of the 2026 Asian Team Championships (BATC) at Qingdao Conson Gymnasium, China, on Wednesday.
Ester, who played in the fifth match, defeated Wong Yi in two straight games 21-17, 21-14, thus completing Indonesia's victory in the opening match of the group phase.
"Thank God, I'm grateful to be back competing. This is my first match, and I'm quite happy to have contributed points for the team," said Ester in an official statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) after the match.
Ester admitted that she felt nervous before the match, especially when she saw her teammates competing first.
