The West Java provincial kickboxing team won a gold medal in the women's creative form hand kickboxing event at the 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) after the PB PON Judges' decision accepted the West Java contingent's appeal. Two female kickboxers from West Java, Adilla Khairiyyah Ramdani and Anggita Karna Deanty, were declared recipients of gold medals, awarded directly by the Secretary General of the Central KONI, Tb. Lukman Djajadikusuma, as a follow-up to the decision of the PB PON Board of Judges and the Indonesian Sports Arbitration Board (BAORI).
KONI Secretary General Tb. Lukman Djajadikusuma stated that the medal transfer process is part of the official mechanism of the national sports organization after a technical error was discovered in the kickboxing event that was not resolved before the conclusion of the 2024 National Games.
"We've reported everything from field officials to the Technical Council. If a silver medalist is promoted to gold, a bronze medalist is automatically promoted to silver. This process does take time because it requires careful and hierarchical processing. Furthermore, there are several other cases, including doping, that are also ongoing," said Tb. Lukman Djajadikusuma in an official statement on Wednesday.
Ade Lukman, as he is familiarly known, stated that the medal transfer was a concrete manifestation of KONI's commitment to ensuring the fairness and integrity of the competition.
For Adilla Khairiyyah Ramdani and her partner Anggita Karna Deanty, this moment was very emotional for them because they gained clarity after a long process of approximately two years.
"I've been waiting for almost two years without any clarity. I was sad and disappointed that this issue dragged on, even though the decision was made before the PON closed," Adilla said.
