Commonwealth Sport, the organizer of the 2026 Commonwealth Games Glasgow, has confirmed the list of countries that will participate in the 3x3 basketball event at the summer event, which will take place at the SEC Centre in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 24–29, 2026.
The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3x3 website stated on Monday that the event marked a significant development for the new game format, following its debut at the 2022 Birmingham edition.
"3x3 basketball has developed into one of the most exciting formats in the world, and the expansion of the number of participants to 12 men's and women's teams demonstrates the rapid growth of the sport," said Commonwealth Sport Director Ann-Louise Morgan.
He explained that Glasgow 2026 will be Scotland's largest sporting event this year, involving around 3,000 athletes from 74 countries and territories who will compete in 10 sports and six para-sports at four main locations in the city.
The 3x3 match presents a fast, dynamic and attractive game for the audience, thus providing an interesting spectacle.
FIBA 3x3 Managing Director Alex Sanchez stated that the Glasgow 2026 roster demonstrates continued growth and the expanding reach of 3x3 basketball globally.
The presence of experienced countries and debutant participants in the tournament will further increase the attraction for spectators.
In the 2026 Glasgow edition, the number of participants increased from eight teams per category to 12 teams each for men and women.
In the men's sector, the countries that have been confirmed to appear include Australia, Fiji, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, New Zealand, Singapore, Jamaica, Guyana, the Cayman Islands, Scotland as hosts, and one European qualifying slot which is still to be determined.
